上信越道 中野インターからすぐ、農産物の100円市で人気の「オランチェ」のとなりに静かに位置している。
安くて 新鮮で おいしい野菜や果物。春から秋には 朝から多くの方が開店を待っている。その行列している右手にあるのが ここだ。
中野はえのきだけとシャクヤクの生産量が日本一だ。ブドウも桃もサクランボも有名だ。市民ボランティアで立派に維持管理されている「一本木公園」のバラも春秋ともに美しい。さらに童謡〈シャボン玉〉の中山晋平、唱歌〈故郷〉の高野達之のふるさとでもある。
そして 郷土玩具中野土人形のふるさとでもある。奈良家の「中野人形」は京都の伏見人形に端を発する。西原家の「立ヶ花人形」は三河の瓦職人の冬の副業に端を発する。異なる二系統の土人形が同じ地域で、今も昔ながらの製法で作られているのは類がないそうだ。
奈良家の人形は、小型で愛らしく丁寧な絵模様が特徴。西原家の人形は、歌舞伎や歴史上の人物ものが多い。
この観光センターも楽しいが、もっと多くの人形と出会えるのが、日本人形資料館だ、奈良家・西原家の土人形のほか、全国各地の土人形や土鈴を常設展示している。2020年 今年の特別展は「天神さま」。9月30日まで。
