I went to Shinjuku branch and it was pretty convenient to open a account here. The bank had two english speaking staff and it took less than an hour. Hoping it to be good with bank related services too.

I disagree with the other reviewer, I am a foreigner and I don't speak a word of Japanese, and they really helped me to create a cash card account. They are very nice, and though some employees don't speak a lot of English, we were able to understand each other enough!

The worst bank experience I’ve ever had! Do not make an account here - the biggest mistake I ever made! They have horrible customer service and long waits. On top of it their digital resources are worthless. I’ve been trying for over 6 months to open a GoRemit app account and still no luck. Such a waste of my time and money to be at this bank.

As a Gaijin it can be a huge hassle opening an account in Tokyo. My experience with Shinsei Bank has been anything but. A little Japanese goes a long way here and there are also a few staff who speak good English. Everyone I have dealt with has been polite, friendly, helpful and professional. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

I don't know why the bank office is so poorly rated. I got a polite greeting even before I stepped inside, and the whole process of creating an account went very smoothly. Would definitely recommend to any foreigner working in Japan.

''Dekimasen'', ''Dekinai'' are the most common words you gonna hear in this bank. I have been client for the last 4 years. I needed a simple bank statemente. it took me about 2h waiting and finally ''gomen nasai dekimasen''. Very unefficient people. 5 people doing nothing. Not even able to print a simple statement for a client. They make super small issue Bigger than the whole universe and everything is impossible and very difficult.

I opened an account at Shinsei Bank since my colleagues told me the wiring fee is cheap. According to some of my experiences with this bank (not only this branch), YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! I just can not believe that the staff can be so rude, and this is Japan, famous for its service among the whole world! Also, no efficiency at all, even you made a reservation beforehand. I did see a lot of staffs there with a few customers. But still everyone need to wait for a looooong time, 60 minutes at least. Your time means nothing for them. The security guard was nice, and that's why it can get 1 star. For English speaking only customers, you have other choices in Tokyo too. I used Prestia a lot. But I also know that SMBC provides English service too. Hope that help.

Disappointed. Their Kyoto branch was super nice in early 2000's. I still thank them. I wished this Shinjuku branch to be at the same level and visited them, but... Oh, the security guard was nice. Somehow, security guards at any branches of Shinsei Bank are always very nice surprisingly.
