飯野山の南側に位置している社です。田園地帯の中に鎮守の森で遠くからでもよく分かります。こちらの神社より南側にある讃留霊王神社(古墳)の祭神の子孫が創建したと言い伝えが残っています。祭神は大宣都比売、天照大神、天児屋命です。五穀豊穣の神様を主祭神と云うことは古代より農業に関わりのある社だったのでしょう。本殿の裏側、境内の西側等に沢山の井戸、湧水が湧出ています。農業には水はかかせないものですからね。本殿右側の神宮寺跡の観音堂に祀られている十一面観世音菩薩様は水瓶を持っています。これは長谷式十一面観世音菩薩と称されるもので、水源が近くにあることを表しているそうです。また境内には楠の大木が沢山あり、その中の三本は丸亀市の保存木に成っています。それから境内南側入口の鳥居前の道路は旧南海道であり古代から開けていた土地と分かります。先ほども書き込みましたが神仏混淆の時代には神宮寺も有り栄えていたことが思われます。

This is called the Hase-style eleven-faced Kanzeon Bosatsu, and it seems to indicate that the water source is nearby. In addition, there are many large camphor trees in the precincts, and three of them are preserved trees in Marugame City. Then, you can see that the road in front of Torii at the south entrance of the precincts is the old Nankaido, which has been open since ancient times. As I wrote earlier, it seems that Jingu-ji was also prosperous in the era of mixed gods and Buddha.
