Shimada Temple - Marugame

It is a historic temple of Shingon sect of Koyasan.

It is a temple located immediately after entering Iiyama Town from Sakaide City on National Highway 438 and entering the narrow path on the south side of the facility of Iiyama Agricultural Cooperative in front of Iiyama High School. It used to be a temple of the Hosso sect. It was called Yabayama Shingonin Jodoji, but later it was called Shimadaji from the name of the location. "The 13th year of the Enryaku calendar (794) New Year 8th Kobo Daishi, moved Hokunji Temple to Muraimura Sanroku Reiou Tsukagami and stayed at Shimada Temple as a yoga ground to recommend Sanroku Reiou." Later, when Hokunji Temple was abolished, the principal image and sacred treasure were paid to this temple and the spirit of Sanroku Reiou was trained. Due to the war in the Tensho era, Dou, treasures, all sutras, Sanshu Fudoki, old records from all over the country, past books, Aya's genealogy, etc. were burned down. In the 8th year of Keicho, Kazumasa Ikoma devoted himself to the 15th generation of the temple, Ryojun, and built Kokenji with the 50 stones of the temple territory. Occasionally, Buddhist statues (Fudo Myoo, Jizo Bosatsu, Bishamonten, etc.) that were introduced to Hokunji Temple were also transferred, and Yoshizumi Ishihara was founded as the foundation of Kokenji Temple. Since then, this temple has become a retired temple of Kokenji. In addition, among the successive generations, Yoshizumi Fifteenth was hailed as the master of the eight lectures of Hannya, and the nineteenth generation, Yasuen, is a great virtue who made his name known to the world with his scholarship and superhuman strength. From the precincts to the garden trees, the temple is very well maintained and I feel comfortable to pray, and there are many highlights, so it is a temple that you will never get tired of.
