社名岐多志太には色々な説が伝わっており、万葉仮名の読み方としては、はキタ氏の田という意味でキタ即ち鉄を鍛える鉄工の神として解釈されているが、
今もカジヤガイトウの地名が近くに残っているため、地名からの由来とも言われている。
また祭神天香語山命は芸能の神ともいわれるため、フエフキ・タイコウジ・ヒョウシダなど雅楽に由来するの地名も近くにあるため雅楽が最初に伝えられた地ともいわれる。
廃仏毀釈に合わせて名前が変わっている。

延喜式内社 岐多志太神社（きたした）
本殿は石垣基壇上に二棟並び建ち、板葺、銅板で覆う春日造で、本殿前に神明造の木鳥居が立つ。
この神社の旧社名は、太祢命であったが、明治7年の神仏分離令のとき、式内社、岐多志太神社となった。
駐車場・トイレ無し。
