The surrounding terrain and the earthworks that felt the passage of time were very good. However, it is a pity that the private land is complicated and you cannot see the other side.

Chiba Prefecture Designated Historic Site Shiizu Castle Ruins It is the largest medieval castle in Ichihara City, and was built on a plateau near the coast. The ruins of the current castle are surrounded by residential areas, but the remains of Kuruwa, moats, earthworks, etc. remain and are being excavated. It became a historic site designated by Chiba Prefecture in 2017, and the main enclosure has been maintained and can be visited. Since there is some private land, you need to be careful not to enter outside the tour area. 【history】 The exact history of the castle was unknown, but it seems that when Mr. Takeda Kazusa (Mr. Mariyatsu) advanced and expanded his power, he moved from Mariyatsu Castle to Shiizu Castle. After that, it was under the influence of Mr. Gohojo, and the remains that remain in the current castle ruins are thought to be from the time of Mr. Gohojo. 【access】 There is a parking space at Yasaka Shrine on the north side of the castle ruins, and there is a handwritten guide when you enter from the north side of the castle ruins.

As you enter the road on the east side of Yasaka Shrine, you can go around the castle. You can observe Horikiri, earthworks, etc., and there are many flat grounds that look like a waist curve. However, unfortunately, the main part is private land and is currently off limits. The view of Edo Bay is good from the winding. Many culverts were found at the foot of the lake, and it may have been surrounded by wet swamps. There is no parking lot in the neighborhood.

The main enclosure is well maintained, and you can see the remains such as the earthworks and the tiger mouth. However, it seems that there are many privately owned lands, and it is difficult to tell where the passage is permitted and where it is not. It may be safe to see only the area around the pillars and information boards. In addition, there are moats and traces of waist-curved rings other than around the main enclosure, but there is no guidance there. However, unfortunately, it seems that the wards other than the main ward have become residential land.

There is a signboard on the way, but I don't know the final packing, so I go back and forth. Eventually, as soon as you enter the narrow road, you will reach the main enclosure by passing by the side of the house. We do not recommend visiting by car as there is no parking space and the road is narrow. You can take a walk around the main enclosure, but you cannot take a walk to see the whole picture, such as private land beyond that.

The castle remains only in the main enclosure, but the grass is regularly mowed by the locals. You can check the earthworks and the stepped ring.

[★ Be careful! ★] There is no parking lot. I would like you to take measures with that in mind. I bought a little less than 1000 yen at a nearby 7-Eleven store and negotiated temporary parking. As a historic site, I basically knew only Honmaru, but I am grateful that it is left in spite of its proximity to the urban area. There was a questionnaire book.

It takes about 15 to 20 minutes on foot from Anegasaki Station to the castle ruins. There are guide signs and banners nearby so you don't have to worry about getting lost. With the understanding of the landowners and the enthusiasm of the local people, the main enclosure and the banded ring are well preserved. Bamboo fences, trees, and bamboo materials are used as chips to spread sidewalks on the main enclosure, making it easier to go around. It can be imagined that it was a fairly large-scale castle, including the outer hulls that have already become residential areas and fields. Shaga in the ruins of the castle? There is also a community of wildflowers, so it may be attractive to see wild flowers.
