It seems that Suzu ware from Ishikawa prefecture, whose production ended in the 15th century, will appear in this castle.

There is a comment called Shiga Castle Ruins, but Shiga Castle is located on the back of the temple. This temple is probably the remains of a residence. Shiga Castle has a mountain trail from the side of this temple and you can go up to the ridge. However, although it is flat, there are no other remains. Since it is not maintained, it is better not to go unless you are used to the mountain.

I found a sign on the side of Unkoji Temple that says "Shiga Castle Ruins Entrance" and went up the mountain path. There was no signboard on the way up, and I thought that this was Shiga Castle Ruins because the stone wall remained. When Shingen Takeda dropped the castle, he arranged the heads of the warlords who had been defeated to lower the command of the enemy so that they could be seen in the castle. As a result, the command fell and Shiga Castle fell. By the way, the women and children caught were sold. It may be one of the stories that people in Nagano Prefecture do not like Shingen Takeda.

You can enter the mountain from temples. Anyway, it's easy to get lost, so you need to check the map. There is no view from the top of the mountain, and if you want it, it is better to go to the bright mountain. Rather, the rock wall on the way is more spectacular.

There are many stone walls such as Ishigaki ❗️ There is a surrounding castle and a horizontal moat, is it a fairly large castle?

On a sunny day with good weather, I was able to experience a hard mountain climbing while listening to a pleasant explanation from an expert, and enjoyed nature for the first time in a long time, and had a fulfilling time (^ ∇ ^)

Shiga Castle was once situated in the middle of Shiga Mira ( now saku city), but now, all that remains is a temple built on the site of the former castle. The temple is know, I believe, as unkouji, and is quite the site, sitting atop of either the castle foundations, or a very nice reconstruction. The temple is part of Saki's seemingly now abandoned temple stamp rally. Very interesting place, a little of the beaten track, but well worth a visit.
