頼朝に追われて陸奥へ向かう義経のあとを、慕って付いてきた静御前は、ここで涙ながらに別れることになった…とのことです(^_^ゞ
義経は奥州へ、静は鎌倉へ、何度も振り返りながら別れて行きました。その静御前に、お顔が似ていることから、こちらの御本尊は「見返り地蔵」と呼ばれているそうです。
この近くには、義経の腰掛け石も残っているので、通って行ったことは確かかもしれません(^_^)v

Shizuka Gozen, who had been eager to follow Yoshitsune who was chased by Yoritomo and headed for Mutsu, was said to break up in tears here… (^_^ゞ
Yoshitsune went back to Oshu, Shizu to Kamakura, and broke up repeatedly. It seems that this principal temple is called "Merieri Jizo" because its face is similar to that of Shizuka.
Yoshitsune's stool is still nearby, so it may be true that I went there (^_^)v
