The place where there was a battle during the Northern and Southern Dynasties. The area around Hachiman Shrine is peaceful.

The remains of the mine, the earthworks, and the moat are left behind, so you can remember the past.

The last place to stay in the five castles where the abbot of Emperor Godaigo, Kitahata Shinbun, repeatedly lost power while hoping to recover the power in the eastern part of the Southern Dynasty. You may not be able to reach it unless you check the location thoroughly ?.

It seems that it was facing a wetland other than the north, and when walking from the parking lot to the site of the mine, it gradually descends. There are still some earthworks and moats here and there, but the one that is easy to understand is behind the shrine of Yawata Shrine.

It is the ruins of Seki Castle, which was contested during the upheaval of the Northern and Southern dynasties over 600 years ago. You can feel the history of Ibuki on the memorial towers of the attackers Yuki and the defender Seki, as well as the remains of the earthwork. There is also a trace of a tunnel dug in the siege battle behind the shrine a little away. It is very rare to find such a tunnel. At that time, it was said that the castle was surrounded by swamps on three sides, but it is easy to imagine when the rice fields in the vicinity are flooded. At the site of the Daihojo Castle (a historic site designated by the government along with Seki Castle), which is located about 2 km away, the earthwork and moat are still in good condition, which is quite spectacular.

At the site of Seki Castle, there is a Hokyointo, which is said to be the tomb of Sosuke Seki and his father and son. From the stone quality, style, and weathering, I think it was made in the Muromachi period with granite from Oda in Tsukuba. The part of the tower body was remade in posterity.
