One of the best foreign Restaurants in Tokyo! I took the Berlin style Currywurst, it was very delicious! They also have a wide range of German beers!

One of the employees speaks English, Japanese and German which is very helpful. The schnitzel is one of the better ones I’ve had in my life time and its partially due to the quality of ingredients. My schnitzel craving is surely satisfied.

Schmatz is a German bar/restaurant about 3 minutes walk from Akasaka mitsuke station. I really wanted to like this place but I came out feeling really disappointed. I arrived at 5pm (the time it reopens in the evening) for the start of happy hour and was told that all the tables were booked and they could just squeeze us on a small side table in the corner, even though the pre-booked tables weren't going to be used for another 2 hours. The beer selection isn't all that large but it's pretty good (it's German after all) and the happy hour prices are reasonable. I ordered a currywurst but it really wasn't very good and nothing like the ones in Germany. Overall a disappointing experience.

Very nice staff! The girl who helped us was (considered to most japanese people) very good in English. There is happy hour untill 19:00. Food is good, its not only sausages but thy also have pizza. If you want to switch up your food game is thi definetly a good spot.

If you aren't German, the food and decor is good enough to say you went to a German bar/restaurant. If you are German, you may be a bit miffed at how watered down some of your hometown favorites. Issues with authenticity tends to happen with a lot of Japanese-owned international places. A lot of that comes down to availability of certain ingredients/ knowledgeable staff. Some of it comes from owners wanted to have a bit of foreign culture but also a bit of Japanese culture for J-patrons. Not sure if it's a bad thing or good thing but at least they had the 1 liter boot! :D

Wonderful German beer selection and great sausages, but a little pricey.

Nice place, nice food and nice drinks. I gave three stars just because of one Chinese par-time servant who didn’t even know how to pour the beer. The shop master had to comer over every time to re-do and apologize. Give more training for staff before attending the customers other than that I like everything about this place!
