In Australia we would pay through the roof to get such contemporary, thoughtful and passionate takes on Japanese dishes—the smoked daikon was like nothing else. A pure gastronomical delight downplayed as homestyle cooking. No pretense and all heart. That sentiment extends to the selection of sake and shōchū available. The atmosphere is warm, the food surprisingly modern, and the booze a step above. 100 stars.

I enjoyed a good meal with squid rice omelet, pickled vegetables, and a good coffee in this small renovated old house. It was all occupied when I came in. The seats outside is warmer, but I could only choose the washitsu seat. As it turns colder after digesting all food, so I leave earlier than I expected.

The owners were super friendly and the space had a unique old charm. Clean, fast, and relatively cheap, it is worth the visit if you are in the area!

Good place to chill and take a rest while sipping good coffee or getting something to eat. It’s located not so far from Yanaka Ginza, but far enough to enjoy some peace and avoid the crowds that wander down that street. Many little old-style decoration items to look at, some tatami floor and old house vibes. Worth a visit.
