宮	宮本康弘 on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ JR財田駅前のタブノキは財田駅の駅舎を覆い隠すように生えている大木です。こんな大きなタブノキは初めて見ました。枝が四方に貼り出した珍しい樹形をしています。高さ　１３m 幹周り　５、５m 東西　２１m 　南北　２１、３m 平成23年5月24日測定樹齢　推定７００年香川県の保存木に指定こぼれ話し大正十二年(1923年)旧国鉄の土讃線建設に伴う駅舎建設の折、このタブノキが邪魔だと切り倒す計画が持ち上がります。当時はここに祠が有りタブノキは御神木として神が宿っていると信じ大切に祀って居たのです。旧国鉄の計画を知り村人達は「タブノキを切り倒すと祟りがある」と大変恐れていました。しかし鉄道建設は国家の事業、そのまま成り行きを見守っていたそうです。すると工事関係者が次々と不慮の事故にあい負傷者が相次いだので「祟りに違いない」と村人達は騒ぎ始めたのでタブノキには手を付けず残したそうです。 Machilus thunbergii in front of JR Sanuki Station is a large tree that grows to cover the station building of Sanuki Station.
