長岡周辺では、結構大きな日蓮宗寺院です。交差点際にあり、分かりやすい場所です。北条時頼の分骨があり、古刹です。

Around Nagaoka, it is a fairly large Nichiren Buddhist temple. This is an easy-to-understand place near the intersection. It is an old burial mound with Hojo Tokinori.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 北条氏発祥地であった事から所縁の深い当地の人々が、名執権として誉れが高かった鎌倉幕府五代執権･北条時頼の徳を慕い、幕府に分骨を願い出てこの地に墓を建て、時頼が後年『最明寺入道』と呼ばれていた事から寺名を【如意山最明寺】と定め建立したと伝わっています。
北条時頼には、逸話が有ります。
執権を辞した後、一介の僧として全国行脚の旅に出て、謡曲『鉢の木』に見られる様な伝説を各地に残しました。
弘長3年(1263年)37歳で亡くなり、鎌倉の禅興寺に葬られました。
The people of this area, who are closely related to the birthplace of the Hojo clan, longed for the virtues of the Kamakura Shogunate's fifth generation, Tokiyori Hojo, who had a high reputation as a prestigious authority, and asked the shogunate to build a tomb here. It is said that Tokiyori was later called "Saimei-ji Irido", so the temple name was set to [Nyoiyama Saimei-ji] and it was built.
Hojo Tokiyori has an anecdote.
After resigning his authority, he set out on a nationwide pilgrimage as a monk, leaving behind legends such as those found in the song "Hachi no Ki".
He died at the age of 37 in Kocho 3 (1263) and was buried in Zenkoji Temple in Kamakura.
