It is said that six Jizo in front of the gate are lined up here from the Meiji period. On the other hand, it is a temple with a very history famous because a dedicated body of Buddha is said to be one of the origins of Sendai. 概要
曹洞宗、円通山。現在は太白区宮沢の宗禅寺の末寺だが、江戸時代は天台宗定禅寺の末寺だった。
奥州藤原秀衡の創建ともいわれる古刹（歴史の古い寺）で旧仙台城大手門の下（現仙台国際センター付近）にあったが、永正13年（1516）に曹洞宗に変わり,慶長7年（1602）仙台城築城で現在地に移されている。
「仙台」の地名の起こりともいわれる千躰仏を祀る千躰仏堂がある。され、のちに現在地に移転された。

The old temple (temple with a long history), which is said to have been built by Hideyoshi Oka Fujiwara, was located under Otemon of Sendai Castle (near the current Sendai International Center), but it changed to the Soto sect in 1516, and it is Keicho 7th year. (1602) Moved to the present location at Sendai Castle Construction.
There is Sensen Buddhist temple that enshrines Sensen Buddha, which is said to be the origin of the place name "Sendai". And later relocated to its current location.
