It looked like a normal old house from outside but did surprise me by their service and onsen in good maintenance.
Also the owner family can speak English, great for the non-Japanese speaking travellers.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Had a wonderful time staying at Ohnuma. I went there for the first time and definitely coming back! The food was a feast, the staff were so welcoming you'd feel at home (staff speak English fluently!) They have a mountainside outdoor onsen -- a must try! It was also a wonderful experience to have dinner and talk with the manager and his family! For foreign guests, don't worry. They have English signages, reminders, menu, pamphlets, and staff converse in English well!

The staff were very accommodating of my limited Japanese.
