かなり小振りな、道の駅。
建屋の中で地産品のエリアが広く、地酒の陳列が多いのはいいが、弁当などがなかったような気がする。
またインフォメーションコーナーに、畳敷きの場所があり、地元の方々向けの集会場所なのだろうが、旅行者にとっても靴を脱いで、くつろげるところは、ありがたい。

ハバネロ唐辛子を売り物にした商品が多く、辛党の自分は生き地獄系ののジャンとハバスコを買ってみました。外ではソフトクリームが売っておりハバネロパウダーを振りかけたソフトが食べられます。
辛さ３段階(初級 上級、地獄級)あります。
写真は上級300円です。

郡山方面からの帰り道に立ち寄り、

食べられます。

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ いつもなら夕方近くに通過するだけだが、今回は早朝だったのてトイレ休憩に立ち寄りました。いつも普通車から大型車が多く利用する道の駅ですね。
道路情報休憩室では会津、中通り、浜通りの観光、グルメ、お土産、その他の情報冊子が置いて有るので情報収集して先ずは小名浜~相馬~福島~郡山~猪苗代~西会津と情報を元に福島県を満喫しました。立寄ってホンマ便利な道の駅でした。

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 国道49号を何度も利用しながら、この道の駅を利用する事は無かった。高速が出来るまではいわきへの最短ルートはこのＲ４９ 郡山からいわきまで約60㌔ほどの中でコンビニはこの平田にあるセブンだけでした。現在では沢山のスーパーやコンビニがこのＲ４９にも出来て安心してドライブが出来ますが、その中で道の駅は各地域・エリアの個性豊かな品々が置かれていて興味深いものがあります。この玉川は地産商品は少々少ないかな？展示品は植木(盆栽？)関係が多いかな？入口近くにはソフトクリームなどのファーストフードの販売やタイ焼き等の販売を行う出店がありました。本日はタイ焼きを2個購入しました。駐車場も広く安心して駐車できる道の駅です。
