★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Extremely bad dinning experience, the worst in Japan. It took 30 mins to deliver 3 sashimi dishes. After they gave us food, we suspected that they may have taken the wrong order and asked for the bill. Then, the waiter threw the receipt on our food. Yes it was literally on my food. Very insulting and inappropriate.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ As a foreigner I felt they took advantage of me. There's usually a cabbage salad served everywhere with kushikatsu and truly they were serving it to local customers but not us. They didn't speak English very well so we had to let it go. The menu is in English though. They also charged us extra for some items, including one extra beer. If you want to sit inside, it's only smoking area everywhere which is quite disgusting. The dish itself was okay though, I liked the cheese and the quail eggs the most, but wouldn't go there again and wouldn't recommend this place.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Super yummy kushikatsu in Shinsekai! English menu is available, and the place looks nice and cosy inside. They have a nice array of ingredients and side dishes, and lots of drinks to choose from. We ended up spending around ¥5000 for two people with lots of drinks! Haven't tried the other kushikatsu restaurants in the same street, so I can't really compare, but I thoroughly enjoyed this place!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ we tasted few of the kushi katsu, cheese, chicken skin and shitake mushroom taste great, kobe beef is a little bit hard, rice cake is too soft and absorb too much oil
the staffs are friendly and speak english, it's a nice place to hang out if you don't mind people smoking

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Went here in June 2019. First time trying kushikatsu but was very disappointed as it was cold and didn't taste as good as I thought. The breading was very soft and wasn't crispy.
But the Kirin Beer on tap was bloody amazing. Best beer I had in my life hands down.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Shinsekai was one of my preferred places to hangout, I haven been there after corona and the struggle is real, Thursday 8.30 pm and the 80 % of the the restaurant, shops... are closed.
Lucky for me Otaki I stills open.
But I feel the struggle here too, before it was plenty of people working and this time I can count maybe 5 employees.
Food and service s been better.
I will keep coming but is sad how looks the neighborhood.
