★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Otsunasushi was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had! I walked in with my wife and daughter wanting one last sushi dinner before returning home to the US. My wife did not want anything to eat but simply wanted to sit with us. It was not crowded at the time, only 2 other patrons. We understood very little Japanese, but the staff made it very clear that in order to stay my wife needed to order food. My wife graciously left while my daughter and I ordered our meals. Near the end of our meal, my wife returned and sat with us, still only 2 other patrons. At first, our young waitress was very gracious and allowed my wife to sit with us and even offered her a free cup of hot tea. The sushi chef became visibly upset and ordered an older waitress to speak to us. She only spoke Japanese, which we did not fully understand. We took it to mean my wife could not stay. My wife left a second time. Then a few seconds later the older waitress brought a dish of tsukemono, which we did not order. At this point, I just wanted to settle the bill and leave. I realized later they charged me an exorbitant amount for the tsukemono (which we did not order) and for the hot tea, which our young waitress said was free. The service and attitude of the staff, especially the sushi chef was horrible. If you’ve ever watched the TV show, Seinfeld, you’ll remember the Soup Nazi. You get the picture. Do not eat at this place, especially if you are a foreign visitor! I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This place may have decent sushi but horrible service. The attitude they showed my friend's family was appalling, we came in for lunch with a baby who was very hungry.
Her mom fed her a baby cracker because she was too young to eat anything they had at the sushi restaurant. The staff made a scene and a fuss, saying they don't allow customers to bring their food, and that other customers would not understand even if it is a baby. This was all in Japanese, so there were no language barriers. We ended up leaving. I have been eating there once a week, but they lost my business and I would never recommend this place to anyone, especially foreigners.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Terribly rude waitress who insisted we had to order five set menus, not four, for a family of five with three kids. First time we had this experience after three years in Japan. We left without ordering.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I don't think I have ever felt more uncomfortable eating at a Sushi place. Right up front, I told the waitress (who spoke English) that this was my first day in Tokyo on business from America and open to the sushi chef's suggestions. To warm up, I ordered a couple of classics, nothing spectacular, just settling in before what I hoped would be the chef's fireworks once he understood my palate and wanted to surprise me. Turns out, they didn't have yellowtail -- fine. I get it. That's bush league in Japan. So, I told the waitress, "Chef's choice. I'm open to whatever he wants to give me." Then came the problem: I asked for one of my favorites, a spicy scallop hand roll. Okay, admittedly this might be an American thing, but what transpired next was insulting. The chef made the hand roll, but didn't understand the spicy part (spicy sauce). He took the hand roll in the back and the waitress and some other staff had a good laugh at my expense. How do I know that they were laughing at me? Nobody else was there! (See pic below.) And, while I was prepared to spend all kinds of money being treated to Japanese delicacies, I decided to take my business elsewhere - because their attitude and the service was atrocious. How can I say that? Again, I was the only one there! For 20 minutes, before begging for my check so I could leave, this was my view.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Service was good on the contrary to the reports. We gave this a shot, looks authentic! Boy were we glad we did!
We had the gekko course it was delicious! Sashimi and sushi was soooo fresh! We’ll be back again! Bonus, the place is next to the Franciscan chapel!
