関東の駅100選に選ばれています。 なんというか、昔の城下町だった時代を想わせるというか… とにかくレトロな感じです。(語彙力死滅)
It has been selected as one of the 100 best stations in Kanto. Somehow, it reminds me of the old castle town ... Anyway, it feels retro. (Vocabulary death)

きれいな竹細工、この点灯時間は入場券なしで駅に入れます。 構内にもきれいな光のアートが列車とともにお出迎えしてくれます
Beautiful bamboo work, this lighting time can be entered at the station without an admission ticket. Beautiful light art will welcome you along with the train on the premises.

つげ義春聖地巡礼の起点となる駅。2004年と2013年2度訪問。2013年時、駅の売店を巡回したが、女店員が恐ろしく無礼な人物だった。
The station that is the starting point of the pilgrimage to Yoshiharu Tsuge. Visited twice in 2004 and 2013. In 2013, I toured the shop at the station, but the female clerk was a horribly rude person.

大多喜駅は、いすみ鉄道の拠点駅です。 駅は上下線のホームが分かれているので列車の写真が撮りやすいです。
Otaki Station is the base station of the Isumi Railway. The station has separate platforms for the upper and lower lines, so it's easy to take pictures of the train.

For a long time I'd been interested in catching the small trains across the Boso Peninsula. I did the journey from Goi to Ohara, catching the Kominato line to Kazusa-Nakano and then the Isumi line to Ohara. The Kominato line was a brilliant experience, old-style trains and tickets, charming railway stations with weathered signs handwritten in beautiful script, the feeling of being close to the landscape, which you don't normally get on trains. The landscape was a mixture of old farms and bamboo forest. And then I changed to the Isumi line. The landscape didn't disappoint but the train was covered in Moomin characters (Why? Japanese people don't go to the Cotswolds in the UK and expect to see Doraemon cartoon characters) and there were recorded announcements almost all the time. Every time the train stopped, the ticket machines at both ends of the single-carriage train started bleating 整理券をお取り下さい (please take a ticket) repeatedly at the same time the overhead speakers were making another unnecessary announcement about the train being a ワンマン電車 (a train with a single driver). The journey, which should have been magical, ended up being irritating. The Kominato line had minimal announcements (by humans) and passengers were allowed to enjoy the scenery in silence. If you're planning to explore the two lines, stick to the Kominato line.

Very beautiful small station! I love its quiet surrounding. It's great for an escape from craziness of busy daily life. Only 700m from Otaki Castle. Friendly staffs and there is a tourist information center in the front of the station.
