Ōsawa Station - Yonezawa

I remember going back to Fukushima, passing a pass and switching back on a train. In the tunnel, soot smoke enters the car unless the windows are closed.

From inside the train. The snow shed is creepy at night. Previously it was the station on the Yonezawa side of the 4 station continuous switchback of the Itabuchi Pass on the Ou Main Line. When the Yamagata Shinkansen opened (Oku Main Line Fukushima to Yamagata), the platform was moved to the main line when the track was standardized. A part of the track of the switchback era was left and it was used for track maintenance.

The old switchback branch line remains quietly in one corner of Osawa station. Narrow gauge rails and traffic lights are a legacy of the Showa period. If you look at the main line from the branch line, you can experience the steepness of the slope.

The snow shed is excellent. The remains of the switchback are also good.

Even if I ran along the road, I didn't know where it was, so I stopped by looking for it. It was a secret base hidden in the Snowshed, no matter what the station around here. If you walk home, be careful of the monkey dung.

I think it is the second largest station on the Yamagata line. (No. 1 Toge Station No. 3 Itaya Station) * Bumper cracks when going in a short or high car.

A trip around the old switchback station I went to Osawa station following Toge station and Itaya station. It is a stop next to Toge Station, but during the winter season, the prefectural road that runs in front of you is closed, so you have to go out to National Highway No. 13 and make a detour. Still, I was relieved because I could go around these 3 stations in the morning. As I approached the station, the road became steep and narrow, and there were no signs, so I was often worried, "Is this the right road?" It was difficult because I went too far on the way to the forest road, but when I was able to find the station safely, my tears were about to run out. The station building covered with snow sheds is still different in power. It is impossible to see the train running from above because everything under the road that straddles the railroad near the station is covered with snow sheds. * You can see it if you get close to the station building However, when the train passes, you will hear a roaring sound from inside the shed. There are benches and waiting rooms in the station building, but there are no vending machines. Please note that monkeys will enter the station building! If you are lucky, you may be able to worship the monkey. The Yamagata Shinkansen is a stop only for conventional lines, so it is extremely difficult to access by rail, but if you have the opportunity, I would like to visit by train instead of by car.
