Design and architectural elements give a glimpse as to how people used to live in the feudal Edo period of the 1700s. Check out the storage in the rafters due to the constantly flooding nearby river, and the glassless windows with shutters, and metal-less door locks. There is a suikinkutsu outside, where you drop water into a pile of rocks and hear bells, just like in Kyoto!
