昔、ここの主となった大蛇が人に見られるのを嫌いひっそり住んでいたが、村人に見つかってしまい、村びとの声を聞くなり岩に化けてしまったという「蛇岩伝説」の地です。
蛇の形の岩があり、魚が豊富にいて、昔から子供たちの水遊び場となっているということです。
現在は公園として整備され、四季折々のビューポイントとなっているということです。
