つげ義春さんの漫画｢海辺の叙景｣の舞台になったのは、ここより南、漁港が拡張される前の海岸だったそうです。

There are some people who enjoy surfing without losing the cold.
Yoshiharu Tsuge's manga "Seaside Scenery" was set on the coast south of here, before the fishing port was expanded.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Close to the harbor of Ohara where a Fish market is held weekly on Sunday. You can buy the fresh catch and barbecue it right there.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Spacious free parking with large all-year rest rooms and showers. Surfers, rejoice!. There are plenty of small bays between wave breakers where body boarders and surfers can get lots of fun. Not the best place for swimming, but on a low tide it is safe enough to let kids play in the water.
I saw people on wheelchairs on the beach, yet another good point. And it is pretty easy to get there by car.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A grey sand beach, quiet and spacious. In the summer there are life guards too.
Sometimes very flat ocean perfect to swim, sometimes beautiful waves to surf.
Also the spot for annual hanabi and hadaka matsuri.
