以前は、鳥居もなく地蔵様にも屋根がありませんでした。
この為、神社の名前が表示されておらず、地元では神社の名前が口伝えにされましたが、外部の人には名前を知るすべがありませんでした。
でもね、書いてあるんですよ。
祠のなかに祀られている石板に「荻袋八幡神社」と彫られています。多分、八幡様を勧請したと思われる人の名が一緒に刻まれています。しかも、祠の中には寄付金を出した人がいっぱい書かれている。
横には大日尊とかかれた石と大日如来を表す梵字が書かれています。
ここからは想像ですが、今の鳥居の前は鳥居のない姿でしたが、その前は鳥居があり祠にある石は鳥居につけられていたものかもしれません。
鳥居やご神体は失われてしまったのかもしれない。原因は津波か洪水かも？
上岡田には賀茂皇神社、下岡田には岡田神社があり影の薄い神社となっていました。しかし、この荻袋八幡神社は鎮守様と周囲から認識されていて参拝に来られている方も多いのですよ。
ここを鎮守様、公共の場と認識している証拠に、ここに水道記念碑が設置されています。村が一丸となって行動した証がここにある。敷地は小さく昔の事をわすれてもここは大事な場所です。
この場所に「荻で荻はちがう」と名前を記録した人がいました。

"Ogibukuro Hachiman Shrine" is engraved on the stone plate enshrined in the shrine. Probably, the name of the person who seems to have solicited Mr. Hachiman is engraved together. Moreover, there are many people who have made donations in the shrine.
Next to it is a stone written as Dainichison and a Buddhist script representing Dainichi Nyorai.
As you can imagine from here, there was no torii in front of the current torii, but before that there was a torii and the stones in the shrine may have been attached to the torii.
The torii gate and the gods may have been lost. Maybe the cause is a tsunami or a flood?
Kamoko Shrine was located in Kamiokata, and Okada Shrine was located in Shimookada. However, this Ogoukuro Hachiman Shrine is recognized by the people around it as a guardian, and many people come to worship.
A water monument is set up here as evidence that the guardian recognizes this as a public place. Here is the proof that the village acted as one. The site is small and this is an important place even if you forget the old days.
There was a person who recorded the name "Ogi is different from Ogi" in this place.
