A café and gallery are attached to a spectacular traditional climbing kiln. Overall, it was unified with a modern Japanese taste and it was relaxed and calm. In addition, the fact that pottery is used everywhere, such as the washbasin in the bathroom, is also unique to Shigaraki Good ? The 1st floor is a cafe & gallery, and the 2nd floor is a fairly large gallery. The works on display can be purchased (perhaps all?), So I just scrutinized which one to buy. At the cafe, I had a coffee and pastry set (¥ 750). It was ¥ 500 for coffee ☕️ only. The tableware actually used was also Shigaraki ware, and I enjoyed it with coffee. However, now that it is a corona disaster, I thought it would be even better if it came with a hand wipe. By the way, he seems to be doing ceramic art experience, so if you are interested, it might be a good idea to try it.

The climbing kiln and the gallery were very nice. The atmosphere like an old folk house is nice. It was fun to have fashionable vessels at a reasonable price. I'm glad that the pottery aquarium was rare ♡ The parking lot was a little difficult to understand.

A gallery cafe with a kiln. Since it was a bicycle, I used only the cafe without going to the gallery. Hojicha shaved ice is delicious with a good balance between the astringency of tea and the sweetness of bean paste. It's a taste for adults. It was nice to be able to relax while looking out at the kiln outside the window in a comfortable space unlike the outside of the boiling heat.

A big and clean pottery gallery with a huge kiln. Good place to visit.

This small gallery shop and cafe is right next to a large old stepped kiln (noborigama in Japanese). It was very interesting to be able to walk right inside the kilns and see first-hand the traditional method of making Japanese pottery. Shigaraki is the seat of one of the 'Six Great Old Kilns of Japan.'

Great little place with a wonderful collection of pottery. You can see the traditional ovens they made the pottery in. You can also make your own pottery while there. There is a great little cafe that offers lunch on the premises as well.

Excellent ceramics for sale, interesting old-style kilns to see, and we really enjoyed our class where we got to make cups and plates (it was all in Japanese, but you might be ok even if you don't speak any since he demonstrated each step for us). Highly recommended!

This had a cafe on the first floor and gallery on the second. You can buy plates, cups or whatever you like. Not allowed to take pictures of works there.
