Nokogiriyama Museum - Futtsu

An art museum that was born in March 2010 for the revitalization of the town of Kanaya, Futtsu city. The word "Kanaya, a town of stone and art" is used as a key word, and the exterior of the building has a structure that is reminiscent of a rock like a saw mountain. The Fish is also nearby and blends nicely with the cityscape. Although I visited in May 2019, I displayed "Kuhamiya Ideniki calligraphy". Most of these time-limited exhibits are more than permanent exhibitions. As it looks like it's a small art museum, it will not take an hour even if you go around slowly. The ticket is 800 yen, so I felt a little higher. There is also a small garden and an annex (Kuraku) headed through it, so if you have time, that is also there. People around Kanoya around the Kanayama, The Fish, and ferry terminals are concentrated, but I recommend visiting it once if you are concerned.

I did "Minami Boso ART New Wave-Nokoyama Animal World". The works of artists related to Boso are on display. It's a small museum, but it's very nice because there are many works and you can see it calmly and slowly. It's not a difficult painting, so I was happy to see it.

Nokogiriyama Museum (formerly Kanaya Museum) I visited on the way to Mt. Nokogiri in the middle of March 2021. It is a small museum made of Boshu stone and concrete, right next to Kanaya Port after getting off the Futtsu Kanaya IC on the Tateyama Expressway. My aim is the museum building and the "Annex / Nokogiriyama Museum" behind it. This "Mt. Nokogiri Museum" is a museum that explains the history of Mt. Nokogiri using the stone warehouse on the back, but the stone warehouse uses the Boshu stone of Mt. Nokogiri and is a nationally registered tangible cultural property. I stopped by thinking that I should go before climbing Mt. Nokogiri.

Although it is a small museum of modern cubes, the small garden with sculptures can be seen as a beautiful garden with the trees in the mountains behind. Although it is unpaved, there is a parking lot next door where you can park enough cars.

The exhibition space in the hall is small with about 3 places. You can see how the museum of Mt. Nokogiri became a rocky mountain of that shape. I thought it would be interesting to see it before climbing Mt. Nokogiri.

On the way back from the Uchibo drive, I stopped by a museum near the Tokyo Bay ferry terminal to go to a place I hadn't visited yet. Even though it is a small building, it has an atmosphere and appearance that makes a clear distinction from the surrounding area like a museum. Nokogiriyama's Boshu stone is pasted on a part of the outer wall of the building. The exhibition being held was interesting, but the Nokogiriyama Museum in the annex was even more interesting. One of the warehouses is a museum about Mt. Nokogiri and Boshu stone. I used to ride the Nokogiriyama Ropeway many times, but in the olden days, it was a mountain where the traces of stones were jagged, and I had only the knowledge that stones were also used in Edo Castle. However, by observing, how the stone could be cut out on such a precipice, how it was cut out manually, how the stone could be pulled down from the mountaintop, the old appearance of the strange hell peeping, etc. You can see various facts. The cut out Boshu stone is used not only for Edo Castle but also for various buildings such as Yasukuni Shrine, Waseda University Gate, and the Hill Park where you can see Yokohama Port. It's not a story, but I'm surprised to find that it was an active building material until recently. There is also an actual stone exhibition, which you can touch. If you climb Mt. Nokogiri after visiting the museum, you can see the actual exhibition and see Mt. Nokogiri with a deeper emotion. The museum has a souvenir corner. There is a parking lot (free of charge).
