It was the best Udon I ate during my 35 days in Japan. Looking on the reviews it seems like it didn't change.
Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone passing through Hiroshima. I remember it more as a local place but maybe it changed a bit on that aspect

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very bad experience unfortunately due to discriminatory behaviour of the owner. We were there at 12 (two European women) - we waited in the line with a Japanese couple before us. First the lady came out to tell us we couldn’t get in. Thinking it was due to the waiting time, we waited as usual. As it was our turn, another member of staff came out to tell us to go away as they were “finished” serving food (at 12:05!). As we moved aside, he let two Japanese men inside. First racist experience of this type in our three weeks in Japan. Definitely wouldn’t recommend!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Excellent hot and cold traditional Japanese udon. Noodles are made from scratch. Tempura pieces were delicious. Less than a 10 minute walk from Hiroshima Station, or steps from Matoba-Cho tram stop. Very affordable; cash only.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The WORST experience ever. DO NOT GO no matter what. I went with my 2year old daughter and the man was very rude. My husband bought coffee and came after us. That man went to the entrance and said ‘NO’ and closed the door hardly and left my husband outside. So I carried my daughter and went to the door and wanted to open the door for him but that man just said NO NO to us, meaning my husband is not welcomed. It’s completely nonsense and my daughter was very shocked that her daddy was refused to enter the shop. We have never experienced this sort of attitude in Japan so far. We have been to Japan for more than 20times and this shop is definitely THE WORST ever. SHAME ON THAT MAN/ PROBABLY THE OWNER, he basically has ruined the Japanese culture. This shop and this man should not exist in Japan or anywhere in the world.
DO NOT EVER GO TO THIS SHOP.
