五	五十嵐正臣 on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 説明板には下のように書かれてました。野方給水塔は、荒玉水道の給水場につくられた塔でした。荒玉水道は大正十二年(1923)の関東大震災後、東京市に隣接した町村の急激な都市化による水の需要に応じるため、当時の豊多摩・北豊島両郡にある十三の町々が連合して設立しました。配水塔は、ドイツで衛生工学を学び、淀橋浄水場を作った「近代上水道の父」中島永鋭治（なかじまえいじ）博士（1858～1925）の設計です。着工は昭和二年（1927）で竣工は同四年です。高さは32.6メートル、気部の直径約18メートルの鉄筋コンクリート造りです。世田谷区の喜多見で多摩川から引水し、60万人の二時間分の貯水が可能といわれ、昭和四十一（1966）まで使われていました。その後解体計画もありましたが、平成二十二年（2010）に国登録文化財となり大切に保存されています。ドーム型の屋根が、地域の特徴ある景観をかたちづくり、江古田の水道タンク・みずの塔・給水塔などと親しまれてきた、東京近郊都市化のシンボルです。 The description board was written as follows.
