ネプチューンがやってるテレビ番組の珍百景にも取り上げられた場所です。
新川の上を西川が水道橋のように通ってます。
渡り終えた後はまた陸地を流れる川になる。
想像だけだとピンと来ないかもしれません。
一度ごらんになっても良いかも。
ただ、これ以上のことは何もないので、見て「なるほど」と思ってそれで終わりです・・・。
橋を渡ってから、中洲のようなところを経由して向こう岸にわたると、「新川暗閘」という、昔の遺跡の残りみたいのがあります。
それほど面白い物ではないので、ご興味がある方だけどうぞ(笑)。

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 新潟市内から南進を開始した喜谷さん。途中でトラス橋を発見。越後交通電車線の遺構かと近付いてみると川と川が立体交差していた。越後平野の排水を目的に、後から下の新川と言う川を作ったらしい。ひと思いに合流させたらよいのでは？と思ったが、当時は上を通る西川が水運に利用されていたので、このカタチになったのだそうだ。

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 驚くべきことに江戸時代は西川の底に木製の底樋を埋めて新川と立体交差させていたそうです。その後何度か改修され1955年に現在の鋼製トラスの西川水路橋となったとのこと。
説明の案内板やらがたくさんありわかりやすいです。ウオロクさんの壁にも、対岸にもあります。
Surprisingly, in the Edo period, a wooden bottom gutter was buried in the bottom of the Nishikawa to cross the Shinkawa. After that, it was renovated several times and became the current steel truss Nishikawa Aqueduct in 1955.
There are many information boards and explanations, so it is easy to understand. It is also on Woloku's wall and on the opposite bank.
