Nishi-Hachiōji Station - Hachioji

The station on the Chuo Rapid Line (between Tokyo and Takao) that seems to be the least well-known. It may be known only to residents who use this station on a daily basis, commuters, and passengers who use it beyond Takao, but I will explain it because it is a decent station. First is the manned station. Station staff are resident all day long. Although it is Hashigami Station, it is equipped with an elevator that goes from outside the premises to the ticket gate and from the ticket gate to the platform (apart from the escalator), and the restroom is also barrier-free. The station has a north exit and a south exit (one ticket gate), both of which can accommodate private cars. However, since there are bus stops and taxi stands, parking and stopping that hinders operation is irresistible. Inside the station building, there is a rice ball shop and a Kiosk stand. The rice ball shop is located outside the ticket gate, so anyone can come to the store. Inside the store, there is an eat-in where you can eat the rice balls you bought at the store. The Kiosk stand is a little wider. There is a sense of trust and a product lineup that is a bit different from convenience stores. About the train that stops at Nishi-Hachioji Station. Local trains such as Yuki Takao, Yuki Otsuki, Mt. Fujikawaguchiko, Yuki Kofu, Yuki Kobuchisawa, and Yuki Matsumoto all stop (limited express trains and holiday rapid trains pass). On the uphill, not only local trains and regular trains, but also regular rapid trains and central express trains stop all trains (express trains, holiday rapid trains, and commuter special express trains pass). Most of the up trains go directly to Tokyo Station. You can go to Nakano, Shinjuku, Ochanomizu, and Tokyo Station without changing trains. Nishi-Hachioji Station opened in 1939. It is a station that was set up later for the Chuo Line. The third youngest after Nishi-Kokubunji Station and Higashi-Koganei Station. It was rebuilt in the current Hashigami station building in 1982, but since its opening, the wiring of the two-sided, two-line facing type has not changed. I have been using this station for over 40 years since I moved in 1976. I would like to continue to cherish this Nishi-Hachioji Station, which is not well known but is loved by the community. Added on November 20, 2020 At Nishi-Hachioji Station, the platform extension work has begun to accommodate the 12-car train on the Chuo Rapid Line. Both the up platform and the down platform are under construction to extend the platform toward Takao Station.
