★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I've only been to one other similar place to this and that was near Aso-san in Kyushu. This one had the monkeys act as, well, dancing monkies. The gags were extremely Japan-centric which would make this hard for anyone who hasn't lived much in Japan. I also felt a little bad for the monkeys at times. Aso-san saru gekijyo, while the same sort of setup, had fewer dress-up gags and highlighted the monkeys amazing balance and dexterity. I'd not go here a second time but I'd go back to the Kyushu one again.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I was expecting something different. I believe this kind of place is more for local Japanese. It is not English friendly and the story was very Japanese local jokes you need to have some basic understanding of the language and culture to get the jokes.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I did not expect much before going but the show they put on made even me laugh. You probably need to understand Japanese to enjoy the show though. You can also play with and feed the monkeys. This was a very nice experience.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My friend took a trip here to show me what it was about, needless to say these ridiculous acts are nothing but cruel. These poor monkeys have no other choice but to be slaves to performing ridiculous tricks. Humans need to stop enslaving animals for entertainment and should start actually employing true good human talent instead.
If you go here, know that you're proactively supporting animal cruelty, something that should be a thing of the past already. Sad people pay to support this.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The 50-55 mins show was really fun. It was the highlight of the whole visit in Nikko Saru Gundan. The monkeys were cute. I hope they are treated and fed well because they deserve it. We definitely had a great time.
