★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The owner of this old-fashioned 'kissaten' coffee shop has been the same lovely elderly woman since I first came here in 1998. I make a point of coming by almost every time I'm in Koenji. The interior is ancient red velvet and dark wood and the music strictly classical. The coffee is fine, but you really come here to feel like you've traveled back in time. A good place to think and talk and read.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lovely place with a really unique atmosphere. Smoking is no longer allowed so it doesn't smell like cigarettes like other reviews mentioned. You are not allowed to use computers though, be warned!! Also, the classical music is nice but quite loud.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It’s like walking into an enchanted forest and you find yourself opening the door of a little cabin that leads into a magic room full of red velvet, renaissance keepsakes and the sweetest old lady surrounded by classical tunes.
I ordered a coffee and cake but I got tea and pizza toast ^^ however it didn’t matter because just being there felt like being part of history <3
