It is a mine site in the Obi district of Kurashiki city, Okayama prefecture. It seems that mining was carried out for more than 1000 years from the 8th century of the Nara period to the complete closure of the mountain in 1949. Especially in the Meiji and Taisho era, the mining was opened in many areas such as Kaneda, Saruhiki, Toba, Kurosaki, and Kanabori by individuals and companies, and the amount of copper mined was enough to be in the top 10 in Japan. There is a smelter trace on the back side of the Nakasho driving school building, and is it the garden of a private house on the south side across the road from the Nakasho police box? There is a brick chimney at the site of the power plant. There are slag heaps on the north and west sides of the mine, leaving traces of that time. Several ponds may be remnants of settling basins Relatedly Mine-related stone monument in Okayama Golf Club The tomb of Yuihachi Tomita, who died in a cave-in accident after developing a monkey tomb on the west side of the Kannonji precincts. There is a monument to honor Ogawa Kumaji, the director of the Obie mine in Nakasho Driving School Iriguchi Park. It seems that you can still collect ores such as chalcopyrite, pyrite, and malachite, but it is better not to enter without permission because there are many private land and off-limits signs.
