Shooting is prohibited inside the building. However, for an admission fee of 130 yen, the materials are very abundant and the sights are outstanding!

I have been visiting every year since 2017. I visited in June 2021 as well. Completed in 1984, it is not a new building, but it has been maintained cleanly by proper renovation and cleaning. The toilet is also Western style and kept clean. There used to be Muramatsu Castle, which was the domain office of the Muramatsu feudal clan. You can see the history of the Muramatsu feudal clan, the ancient Muramatsu pottery, and the history of the Kambara Railway and the former Japanese army's Muramatsu barracks. In addition, the works of sculptor Mr. Hagashita and nostalgic photographs and products from the Taisho and Showa periods are also on display. The model of Muramatsu Castle and Kanbara Railway (the model of Muramatsu Castle was produced by the people of Niigata Prefectural Vocational Ability Development Junior College, and the model of Kanbara Railway was produced by the railway club of Niigata University) is really wonderful. I was impressed with it. The exhibits of Mr. Kambara Railway (the railway business was abolished in October 1999 and converted to the bus business) include valuables in memory of the past, such as station name signs, drafting tools, traffic lights and business diaries. My experience of riding the Kanbara Railway was only once in February 1996 on the Muramatsu Line (Gosen Station-Muramatsu Station), which remained until the end. For me, who was born and raised in Mitsuke, it was almost a phantom railway, but I think the achievements that have contributed to the development of the local economy for 76 years have been wonderful. Every time I saw the history and exhibits of Muramatsu Barracks, I strongly felt that people were happy in a peaceful era without war. In the hall, radios, textbooks and military uniforms used by the students of the Boys' Correspondence School, which was attached to the barracks, are on display. In World War II, soldiers from the Muramatsu Barracks also killed in action. In addition, the students of the Boys' Correspondence School also graduated early and were sent to the battlefield and killed in action. I was reminded of the preciousness of peace.

The place with a sign is closed, and the parking lot is behind the museum, which makes it difficult for those who can come by car. Local historical materials are on display.

It is in a quiet place. The admission fee is low and you can learn about Muramatsu. I can think of Muramatsu Castle, which fell in just 13 years. I also learned that there was a soldier training school in Muramatsu. I wanted to know that a little more.
