旧本山は現在単立の鳳凰山本漸寺(東金市東金)｡
はじめ願福寺という真言宗の寺院でしたが､土気城主酒井定隆の改宗令「上総七里法華」によって法華宗日什門流への改宗を余儀なくされました｡
その際､寺僧たちが鋸引きの刑に処されたという悲話が残されています｡
