藤原道真=845－903 平安時代前期の公卿(くぎょう),学者。
承和(じょうわ)12年6月25日生まれ。菅原是善(これよし)の3男。文章(もんじょう)博士。宇多天皇に重用される。寛平(かんぴょう)6年(894)遣唐使の中止を建議。昌泰2年(899)右大臣となるが,左大臣藤原時平(ときひら)の中傷により,大宰権帥(だざいのごんのそち)に左遷され,延喜(えんぎ)3年2月25日大宰府で没した。59歳。その祟りをおそれて正一位,太政大臣を追贈され,天神として信仰された。字(あざな)は三。通称は菅家,菅公。詩文集に「菅家文草」「菅家後集」,編著に「日本三代実録」「類聚国史」など。
