★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 三条通からならまち方面に向かうもちいどのセンター街は、奈良でも最古の商店街と言われ、大峰復興にまつわる伝説を通りの名前にしている。すなわち、役行者が開いた大峰も200年ほど経つと、大蛇が阿古滝に住み着き、修験者も寄り付かなくなった。かつての賑わいを取り戻すため、大蛇退治の勅命を受けた聖宝理源大師は、大峰先達の箱屋勘兵衛の協力によって大蛇を捕まえ、退治した。その後、勘兵衛が大師を訪ねる時には好物の餅飯をお土産にし、大師は勘兵衛を餅飯殿と呼びようになり、さらに勘兵衛が住んでいたあたりを餅飯殿と呼ぶようになったという。それが、このあたりだったので、今でも商店街の名前として残っている。
三条通から東向商店街につながる商店街だが、昔ながらの店はこちらのほうが多い様な気がする。

After that, when Kanbei visited Daishi, he used his favorite rice cake as a souvenir, and Daishi came to call Kanbei Mochiidono, and the area where Kanbei lived was called Mochiidono. That was around here, so it still remains as the name of the shopping district.
It is a shopping street that connects Sanjo-dori to Higashimuki shopping street, but I feel that there are more old-fashioned shops here.
