After passing the stone stage, the scenery changes to a quiet landscape with rice fields. Not to mention the Takamatsuzuka, Kitora, and Ishibutai Tumulus, which are maintained as parks, they stand on the side of the road, which is aside from the main road. The only visitors are me and my eldest son. Perhaps because he explained "Soga no Iname" and "Pyramid stairs" along the way, his eldest son immediately climbed to the top of the tumulus, looked around the grassy feet, and asked "Where is the pyramid?" He said, "No, don't look at what you're seeing now, just close your eyes and imagine." I visited around 2016.

The 41 m east-west and 42 m north-south burial mounds are estimated to be built in the late 6th century. There is a theory that it is presumed to be Soga Iname's grave. It is said that stones are formed in steps, and the connection with the step-shaped stone mound found in Goguryeo and Baekje around the 5th century is pointed out (from Wikipedia).

It is located in a land with many rice terraces in Oku-Asuka. It is in good condition. Since the water source produces a lot of rice, I think it is the tomb of a powerful family who governs this area. ..

The Tsutsuka Tumulus is the second half of the latter half of the 6th century, when the house-shaped sarcophagus was housed in a side-opening stone chamber. The staircase pyramid structure seems unusual. It is said to be the grave of Soga Mako's father, Soga Iname. On foot from Ishibutai Tumulus. I felt far away in bad weather.

It is a small mound that remains in the rice field. A sarcophagus is also placed inside. However, there are beehives on the mounds, so I think you should be careful. It is located further up the mountain from the Ishibutai Tumulus. The road is very narrow, so you may want to leave your car in the parking lot below and climb on foot.

Asuka Village is also famous for its ancient burial mounds. In particular, the area around the Ishibutai Kofun, Takamatsuzuka Kofun, and Kitora Tumulus is maintained as a park. The Ishibutai Kofun is a large tumulus that you can see inside, and there is a plaza and an observatory nearby, so I think it is a good place to visit in large numbers. So, if you go to this Ishibutai Kofun, you can't miss the nearby Miyakozuka Kofun. Recent excavations have revealed that it was shaped like a pyramid. You cannot see the inside like the Ishibutai Kofun, but you can see inside through the iron grilled door.

According to one theory, the burial person is also called Soga no Iname. It is a magnificent side-hole type stone chamber, and although it is a little small in scale, it is very similar to the stone chamber of the Ishibutai Tumulus. However, many researchers say that this is not the tomb of Soga no Iname, so academically, the burial person remains a mystery.

Worth the short walk from Ishibutai Kofun. Better to walk than drive. There is no parking as it's just farms, but if you drive you are almost certain to pass the road that leads to it. About 550m from the entrance to Ishibutai. Small but no other people even in the busy season.
