★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 河内西国三十三所観音霊場の御朱印をいただきました。浄土真宗のお寺なのに御朱印を配布しているのを不思議に思い住職にたずねると明治初期の廃仏毀釈の際、近くにあった他宗の寺が廃寺になり、何代か前の住職が朱印を預かったそうだ。その後忘れられ倉庫の奥に眠っていたが、最近の調査で観音霊場の朱印とわかり当寺が代行しているそうです。
Kawachi Nishikuni received the seal of the 33rd place Kannon Reijo. 本願寺８世蓮如上人の河内地方巡化に同行した岩見入道浄念が開創
１５３５年（天文４年）
「本願寺兼帯所」
１７３９年（元文４年）
本願寺１５世住如上人が淨念寺の住持を兼務することとなり、「門跡御坊」
京阪電車の線路を挟んで南側にある
真宗大谷派（東本願寺）の願生坊が「東御坊」と呼ばれたのに対し
「西御坊」と呼ばれた。
１７６３年（宝暦１３年）の火災で現在地への移建
門前の道は旧京街道で、枚方宿の中心地
寺の門前で道はクランク状に屈曲しているのは、少し東に位置する本陣の防御の為と言われているそうです。

万年寺が明治になって廃寺となり、万年寺の観音様など宝物が浄念寺に移された。満面の笑顔のお地蔵さまが浄念寺の表に居られます。
