★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This unusually tall Jizo statue is located on a relatively well-maintained path leading south from Katsuou-ji temple, although the path gets somewhat less easy heading further south. A number of ancient mile-stones can be found in the vicinity, some of which are Designated National Treasures: the ones between this statue and Katsuou-ji date all the way back to the 13th century and are the oldest such stones in Japan that can be dated.
