Mino Kokubunji Temple. It is located at the southeastern foot of Mt. Kokubunji in the western part of Ogaki city in western Gifu prefecture. It is a temple that succeeds the Hokuto of the Kokubunji temple that was built by the Emperor Shomu. The ancient Kokubunji temple is located on the flat land (Aonohara) on the south side of the current Kokubunji temple, burned down in 3rd year of Niwa (887), and rebuilt after that. It is said to have declined around the end of the 12th century. It is said that the current Kokubunji Temple was revived with the statue of Yakushi Nyorai excavated from the ground in 1615. In the vicinity, there are Mino Kokubunji temple ruins, Mino Kokufu ruins, lunch Otsuka tumulus (Mino's largest burial mound), Nangu Shrine (Mino Kuni Ichinomiya) in the south, and Fukaeki in the west, which has been political and cultural since ancient times. It is known that it was a central place and a key point. The remains of the ancient Kokubunji Temple have been known since ancient times due to the exposure of the foundation stones and excavation of relics, and it was designated as a National Historic Site in 1916 (Taisho 5). Excavation surveys were carried out after 1968 (Showa 43), and most of the cathedral was found, and it is now open to the public as a Mino Kokubunji Remains Historical Park after historic site maintenance. Also, at the current Kokubunji Temple, the statue of Yakushi Nyorai (a national important cultural property) of a single wooden colossus, which is said to have been created during the Heian period as the principal image, is now being transmitted.

Nishimino 33 Sacred Ground, which was built on a vast land in ancient times, is still a large and magnificent temple.

Just in time, cherry blossoms began to bloom and the location was outstanding. The Yakushi Nyurai statue is housed in the top hall and it is quite hard to climb the stairs. The view from above is worth a look Please note that it will only be published every 4 to 8 days.

The principal image of the former Mino Kokubunji Temple is enshrined in this temple. I learned about this at the Ogaki City Museum of History and Folklore, but when I asked the museum if I could see it today, it was open to the public on the 8th of every month, so I wouldn't be able to see it now. It was a reply. But for some reason I was curious and went. When I went to the main hall, there was a guide, so I followed it and climbed further from the back of the main hall to find a building that looked like a Buddhist temple. It was closed from the door, so I thought, "Oh, after all." When I approached it, I found a glass door, so I took a peek and found the Yakushi Nyorai in the photo of the museum! I was surprised! !! The first impression is "Rabbits are big!" I learned later that it is over 3m in size! Legend has it that Gyoki made it, but it seems that it was made in the Fujiwara period because of its style. It's a little disappointing that it wasn't from the Nara period, but it's very valuable that the principal image of the former Mino Kokubunji still remains. This time it was through the glass, but this time I would like to see it directly.

From the place where you can see the site of Kokubunji, the main hall is beautiful with a thrilling and powerful feeling. It's still burning in my eyes. The stairs were difficult, but when I went down, I looked back and saw a magnificent view. I wanted to get a red stamp, but I was disappointed that there was no notation, but I would like to visit again.

A temple of the Koyasan Shingon sect built on the north side of the ruins of Kokubunji in the Nara period. The principal image is a zelkova wooden Yakushi Nyorai sitting statue (nationally designated important cultural property) that is over 3 meters high. Since the principal image is a cultural property, it is not placed in the main hall, but in the reinforced concrete inner shrine (storage) that is built at the highest point in the precincts, up the stairs behind the main hall. Normal viewing is through the glass. On the 8th of every month, the heavy iron door of the inner shrine is opened, and it seems that you can worship the principal image directly. The view from the front of the main hall through the roof of the main hall is truly spectacular. Please visit us on a sunny day. In addition, there are more than 10 temples such as Niomon, Bell Tower, Kuri, Inari-do, Daishido, and Kannon-do in the precincts. It's a fairly large temple. The parking lot is large and easy to park. The toilet is also brand new and clean. There is a nice resting place with a teahouse next to Niomon, but the teahouse seems to be closed on weekdays.
