日本海と久美浜湾を結ぶ狭い運河状の海の上に架かっている海上橋である。
1955年、湊大橋(手動回転橋)がつくられ、渡し舟は姿を消した。
1966年、湊大橋(動力回転橋)架け替完成。
1981年、現在の湊大橋が完成し、回転橋が撤去され現在に至る。

In 1955, the Minato Ohashi (manual rotating bridge) was built, and the ferry disappeared.
In 1966, the replacement of Minato Ohashi (powered rotating bridge) was completed.
In 1981, the current Minato Ohashi Bridge was completed, and the rotating bridge was removed to the present day.
