★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 化石の展示はちょっとしたミニ博物館並みに充実していました。発掘体験に申し込みましたが、たまたま当日開催され、まだ申し込めると教えてもらい、運良く参加できました。アンモナイトを見つけて持って帰りました。
The fossil exhibition was as fulfilling as a small mini-museum. I applied for an excavation experience, but it happened to be held on the day and I was fortunate to be able to participate because I was told that I could still apply. I found ammonite and brought it home.

カブトムシのふれ合いコーナーや化石の展示、野菜の販売、買えるアンモナイトも売ってました。

その他、地元の鮮魚や野菜なども安く販売されてます。

売店と食堂が併設してありましたが
私が行った時は臨時休業でしたが
何人か食堂に来られてましたので
地域で人気の食堂なのかもしれません。
化石は南三陸町で発見されたアンモナイトや魚竜の化石や
のうとう類の化石がありました。
ティラノサウルスやトリケラトプスより何千年前の
地層で地上より海が活発だった時の地層だと説明して頂きました。
発掘体験は小学生と幼稚園の子どもには十分すぎる時間で
子どもより大人の方が真剣になっていました。
発掘方法は落ちている石を拾って
確認するだけなのでハンマーなどは使いません。
石が鋭く、指を切ってので軍手は必要だと思います。
滑り止めのゴムが付いてる物がいいと思います。
１人１個化石を持ち帰りできて
とても満足しています。
子どもたちが大きくなたらまた参加させて頂きます。
