美萩野は新しい地名でこの付近は三津と伏野との一部分を合わせて美萩野と命名との事です。
古来よりこの地は萩が群生する山裾、川、池等で兎、猪や野鳥が生息する狩猟地であったことから(鳥打場)？と呼ばれていたのでしょうか？。実際に江戸期にはこの地で鉄砲狩猟の禁止期間の定めがあったそうです。
(美萩野鳥打場公園)は用水路が側に通り低地に位置しています。
もちろんフェンスで仕切り園内は避難場所、遊び場に整美されます。
古来から野性動物にとってはここは楽園だったに違いありません。
猟師が、獲物を求めて鉄砲を使ったのかな？と想像を掻き立ててくれました。
