I walked lightly from Oyakutoge to Asahidake. Yesterday, the forest road on the Yamanashi side was closed due to construction work, and we headed for the pass from the Nagano side. It arrived at noon, but there were only 3 or 4 predecessors. It seems that the road will be closed until 5 pm today (21.8.5). If you can climb from the Nagano side with a 4WD car, you may need less cars. Although it is recommended for off-road tires, I ran with the Corolla Fielder 4WD. If I climbed slowly while avoiding the sharp rocks, I didn't have much trouble except near the summit. Except for tall cars, you need to be prepared to depress the bottom of the car several times. Please drive at your own risk. The parking lot at the pass is full at 7:30 on Saturdays and Sundays. However, cars and taxis came one after another, and it was pretty messed up. It's not good that there are people who park in places where you shouldn't park. If the parking lot at the pass is full, stop at the front (paved Yamanashi prefecture side) or the back (unpaved Nagano prefecture side) side of the road. The diagonal line is a sign that you should not stop. Let's remember that much! When climbing from the Yamanashi side, it takes about 45 minutes by car from the Kotogawa dam just before the Oyakutoge. You should think carefully about your time and head for it. By the way, on the contrary, I'm hungry in the evening. It is not possible to climb the mountain in the evening, but if you just want to see the scenery in the dream garden, it may be fine in the evening. (However, the dream garden is on the opposite side of the sunset, so the scenery is not so fantastic.) In this case, the drawback is that the forest road on the way back is pitch black.

Officially, it is the highest mountain pass in Japan on the road that you can climb by car. The Yamanashi side is a paved road and winding, so there are many taxis that can carry motorcycles and hikers. The Nagano prefecture side is a forest road with many large stones and many vehicle troubles such as flat tires. I used it once in the car, but when I got up, the parking lot was full. Anyway, there are many parked vehicles at the pass.
