Loves everything about the hotels itself. It got nice buffet dinner and breakfast. The Onsen bathtub in the balcony is also a memorable experience. Mattress is super comfy. What keeps it from achieving five stars is the location. It takes 15 minutes of walk from the station (kosagoe) and the street is very dark at night, without much street light.

You get what you pay for here. The room we had was spotless. The beds were large enough to sleep comfortably. The food at the property was okay. In the morning you have ***y options for transportation. We were happy with the fitness center. I was greeted with a smile on numerous occasions.

Nikko city is beautiful. We enjoyed beauty of mother nature. But sadly lots of business is failling in these days and this hotel is one of them. Very minimum maintenance on this place. Our whole purpose of staying in this hotel was enjoying private open air bath with nice onsen style buffet. The water wasn’t hot enough and buffet menu was exactly same except Saturday dinner. (We stayed Thursday through Sunday) and very little option. So it didn’t fit on any purpose of our trip. and Roof top swimming pool is very old. Garden is wild. and pubic spa was broken. What most bother us is entire hotel and every linen smells like Cigarette and mold ! Super disappointed. Trust this review “PLEASE SKIP THIS HOTEL. “ I wanted give them one or zero star but We enjoyed Nikko sightseeings and hotel staff wasn’t professional but they were kind. and good location.

We will definitely come back next month. The hotel room itself was very clean. The tub in the room was wonderful. I looked forward to coming back to my room at night. The exercise room was well equipped. We always had transport willingly available to us from the resort. The personnel at the hotel is fantastic.

Great location for private hot springs on your room's balcony. Quiet surrounds with a small waterfall and suspension bridge over the river opposite. Rooms are quite spacious and have good hot springs and bathroom facilities. The only weird thing is you must take off your shoes and put them in a locker before you even reach reception, and you are supposed to leave them there until you leave the hotel. So you have to wear their second-hand slippers around the hotel and to their restaurant. The food that they offer for breakfast and dinner is very similar, and didn't change over two nights, which is a bit boring. They have a "gym", but it's in a state of poor repair, as are the other games room facilities.

Good location with nice bath tub on the balcony. Definitely enjoy the open air bath while it's snowing outside. 1 of our 3 rooms has very strong cigarette odors (which is not mine so I won't dock a point on that)

To sum things up, I would say that everything at this hotel looks like it is falling apart. The room was reasonably clean, but smelled like cigarettes even though we had explicitly asked for a non-smoking room. They even gave us an ash tray to not use. The dinner and breakfast were laughably bad. So bad that it kind of became good, because at least I have a good story to tell to friends and family. The private onsen is nice and romantic, the water is very warm and relaxing. Nice to have a few drinks and relax. I came during the coronavirus; I think during my stay the entire hotel was staffed by about 3 people at any given time. All of this would not be such a problem, but I paid about 19,000 yen, which is far too much for what was offered.

RUN AWAY / BIG SCAM. For all foreigners that think that Japanese service is good, here is the worst hotel I ever been in three years living in Japan. The website and their marketing is really good because you think that you are about to spend one wonderful night in a really good looks like hotel. The building is very old, all of the furnitures of the room was broken, a lot of moist, some of the lights didn’t worked, while sleeping you can hear absolutely everything happening in the corridor and in the next room. Most of the equipment is in maintenance . shining movie lover will definitely like it. the Japanese open air bath atmosphere is not there , for the same price you can definitely find better
