I love that there is ice skating in the winter and swimming all year round. Easy to buy tickets from the machine, and nice staff to help you when you get confused! Thank you for a good ice skating adventure!

The ice is smooth, the facility huge and beautiful, but the locker room situation is terrible. The observation seating is great, and very warm, so easy and comfortable to watch hockey.

The place is really nice and clean. But there were no trash cans... Why? And the little restaraunt inside is gross. There are okay prices for instant food. Not impressed with size, seating avaiablity, or food quality.

A great ice rink to skate at. If you are a serious skater, you should get there when they open to avoid the rush on weekends, such as large kids groups. Has a small sports shop as well.

I believe this is the only 50 meter pool in Kyoto. Do check the online PDF schedule before going as the main pool is closed a couple times a month for events. The facility is also closed on Tuesdays. If you want to swim I would not bother with the subpool. It is 25 meters, shallow and usually there is only one or two lanes for swimming. It is also too hot. Rarely have I been at the 50m pool where there are more than 2 or 3 others in the lane. Sometimes part of the pool is used by swim teams but even with only half of the lanes available for public swimming it never seems crowded. Winter months the main pool is converted to an ice rink.

They have Olympic sized 50m pool and a smaller 25m pool. Open all year but the pools are only open for swimming during the summer months, otherwise it turns into an ice rink for skating. Has complete amenities for changing clothes, lockers, cafeteria.

The gym is a bit small and the workout equipment is old, but not too many people at night on weekdays. Very hard to find the place for first-timers.

I went there three times during my stay in Kyoto, and was very happy with it. It seems few people use it, so it was not crowded on any of the occasions. I pretty much had a lane to myself. The 50m pool is 1.4m deep, not full Olympic depth, but deep enough to do flip turns. There is a hot tub you can relax in after your swim, and a diving pool (which I didn't try). The last day I was there, there was a school swimming competition in the 50m pool, so I had to use the smaller one. Half the lanes were 0.9m deep, and the other half 1.1m. It still wasn't crowded, so I had a lane to myself. In one of the lanes, people were power walking, which I never see at my local pool. As with most pools in Asia, you need to wear a swim cap (something I wish they would introduce at my local pool too, after seeing one too many disgusting bundles of hair floating around in it) . There were no signs in English, but I got help from the staff to buy a ticket from the ticket machine and they pointed me in the right direction. The staff was very helpful, even though they done almost no English. After your swim, check out the path that goes around, and almost on top of the pool. You can get a great view of Kyoto from there.
