当駅から先に貨物用の路線(会沢線など)がかつて存在し、その先の山で採れる石灰岩などを輸送していた。
その名残で構内の敷地は広く、長らく当てもなく放置されていたがメガソーラーが作られパネルが並んでいる。
駅としてホームは１面のみ。
いつの間にか駅舎がリニューアルされていて、建物に入る方向が変わっていた。

As a result of that, the site of the premises is large, and although it was left unattended for a long time, mega solar is made and panels are lined up.

券売機が一台で、簡易式の自動改札が3台ありました。
The station was new and beautiful. The toilet was also beautiful.
There was one ticket vending machine and three simplified automatic ticket gates.

かつては広大な構内をもつ貨物ターミナル駅だったそうですが、現在は1面1線のちょっと寂しい駅です。

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 明治22年開業。石灰岩などの貨物輸送の全盛期には東武線でも最大のターミナル駅だったそうです。朝に1便だけ特急りょうもう号が出てます。
