★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 府川本陣があった場所。往時は敷地面積は1000坪余、建坪207坪の豪壮なもので、加賀前田家を始めとする参勤交代の大名の多くがここを定宿としていた。脇本陣2軒は、この北側の中山道宿場館の隣と、この本陣の隣にあったとされ、それぞれ内田家と武笠家が務めていたが、どちらの隣か明らかでない。
The place where Fukawa Honjin was. In the past, the site area was more than 1,000 tsubo and the floor area was 207 tsubo. The two Wakihonjin are said to have been located next to the Nakasendo Post House on the north side and next to the Honjin, and were served by the Uchida and Takegasa families, respectively, but it is not clear which one is next.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 桶川宿の本陣跡ということでしたが入れませんでした。地元議員らしき政治家の連絡事務所が敷地内にあるっぽい。
It was said that it was the site of the main camp of Okegawa-shuku, but I couldn't enter it. It seems that there is a liaison office for politicians who seems to be local lawmakers on the premises.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 期待して行ってみたら、門が見れただけ。公開日もあるみたいだけど立看板だけじゃなく、来訪者が楽しめる工夫がしてあればいいのに。
When I went there with expectation, I could only see the gate. It seems that there will be a release date, but it would be nice if there were some ideas that visitors could enjoy, not just the signboards.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A well-preserved memorial to to the Okegawa Post Town Inn. The sign was well presented, with lots of useful information (in Japanese and English). Unfortunately on the day I passed I couldn’t go beyond the gate, as they seemed to be doing some renovations/repairs in the garden. It is usually open to the public.
