★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 光照寺は願成就院の支院として、建久年間(1190~1199年)に【俊乗坊重源】によって開創されたと伝わり、応和4年(1397年)に改宗しました。
また、【増訂豆州志稿】によると、伊豆に流されていた源頼朝の宿館跡であると記されています。
光照寺には、願成就院の池の島に在ったと伝わる『弁財天』や古い『舞楽面』が残されています。
『舞楽面』は、北条氏の策謀によって伊豆･修善寺に幽閉されていた鎌倉幕府二代将軍･源頼家の【病相の面】と云われています。
【病相の面】は、病床に伏せる頼家の顔を模して彫らせた面であると云われ、鎌倉に居る母･政子の下に届けられる途中、頼家が亡くなった知らせが届いた事から、この寺に納められたと伝わっています。
同様の伝承が光照寺近くに在る『信光寺』にも伝わっています。
その面を運んでいた使者は、『信光寺』を建立した【武田信光】であると伝わっています。
It is said that Kosho-ji was founded by [Shunjobo Chogen] during the Kenkyu era (1190-1199) as a branch of Ganjojuin, and was converted in Owa 4 (1397).
In addition, according to the [Revised Soshu Manuscript], it is stated that it is the site of the inn of Minamoto no Yoritomo, which had been washed away in Izu.
At Kosho-ji, there are "Benzaiten" and the old "Bugaku mask" that are said to have been on the island of Ikejima in Ganjojuin.
The "Mairaku mask" is said to be the "face of the illness" of the second shogun of the Kamakura Shogunate, Minamoto no Yoriie, who was imprisoned in Shuzenji, Izu by the plot of Mr. Hojo.
[Sickness aspect] is said to be a face carved to imitate Yoriie's face lying on the bed, and the news that Yoriie died was received while it was being delivered to his mother, Masako in Kamakura. It is said that it was delivered to this temple.
A similar tradition has been handed down to "Shinkoji" near Kosho-ji.
It is said that the messenger who carried that aspect was [Takeda Nobumitsu] who built "Shinkoji".
